Communications Associate Quicksand Overview Quicksand (www.quicksand.co.in) is a multi-disciplinary innovation firm based in India that applies human-centered-design (HCD) principles to develop new products, services, & programs.

Quicksand?s ?Design For Social Impact? practice works on large innovation assignments in domains such as water, sanitation, education, employability, & governance for Base of the Pyramid populations in Indian cities & villages for clients such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNDP, PATH, International Youth Foundation.

Job Purpose

We are looking for creative, curious, & articulate people to join Quicksand?s communication team. You?ll need to be an exceptional communicator who can understand complex issues and explain them simply across different mediums: blog posts, written reports, presentations, videos, or even in person. You?ll be a self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity, working collaboratively with people from diverse disciplines & cultures, multi-tasking, trying new approaches, and with working in startup settings.

Job Responsibilities

As the Communications Associate, you will lead communications for the Design For Social Impact practice. You will work closely with Quicksand?s consulting project teams to develop & execute project specific communication plans.

This would typically involve identifying ?communication worthy? activities, collating information, developing high impact communication across different media, assisting in the dissemination of this communication collateral.

Qualifications

You would be the kind of person who thrives in a collaborative, multi?disciplinary, startup environment with minimal supervision. You?d be comfortable getting your hands dirty carrying out research in villages, slums, & cities. working. You would be able to think on your feet and being resourceful and creative, identify sources for the information you need.

Some specific qualifications you would have are

A Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in communication, journalism, or the liberal arts from a leading Indian or International University
3+ years of work experience in communication or related fields
Excellent written & oral communication skills in English & Hindi. The knowledge of any other languages would be a definite plus
Ability to think critically Great attention to detail and ability to source information across organizations & geographies accurately and quickly
A dedication to social impact & a desire to make a difference

Location

The position will be based in Gurgaon, India and will involve frequent short-term outstation travel.
