Insurance adjuster seeks to avoid jail |WPRI.com

PROVIDENCE, RI (WPRI) - Former insurance adjuster Vincent DiPaolo is asking a federal court judge to spare him a prison sentence.

DiPaolo admitted to playing a role in a bogus home insurance claim in August.

The bogus claim involved a home owned by former radio personality Lori Sergiacomi aka Tanya Cruise.

DiPaolo, 62, admitted his guilt in August but now says his insurance background does not merit a harsher punishment for his crimes.

He is asking a judge to sentence him to three years of probation, including up to four months in a halfway house and up to four months home confinement.

Sergiacomi along with former North Providence town council president Robert Ricci and former town councilor John Zambarano have also pleaded guilty in the case.

DiPaolo is scheduled to be sentenced on November 30, and faces up to 85 years in prison.
