We recently purchased a single family home in New Hampshire. The seller disclosed a well water radon level of 14000. The NH state acceptable limit without treatment is 2000. The seller was someone who was "flipping" this house and installed a two carbon tank midigation system prior to us ever looking at this home. The tanks initially took the radon level (results of our home inspection water test) down to 200. After the first week of running all of our water through them we got this strong rotten egg smell from the filtered water(most likely caused by gasses also trapped in the cabon and building). This is NOT happining when i bypass the carbon tanks. I did some research and found out from the EPA, NH enviornmental services, and 3 well and water treatment companies that activated carbon tanks are not recommended to treat levels of radon in water over 5000. You need the much more expensive aeration (bubble up)system installed. Again they disclosed a level of 14000. I then took a water sample to an independant lab who does not sell or install treatment equiptment and found out our level is acually way higher. We have a raw water radon level of 33000!!! I contacted the seller and long story short he is completly unwilling to do anything now. Do I have a case? Thanks in advance, Travis
