[Press Release] Gov. Perry Gives Keynote at the United Negro College Fund?s North Texas Governor's Luncheon

Gov. Rick Perry delivered the keynote address at the North Texas Governor's Luncheon benefiting the United Negro College Fund (UNCF). The UNCF provides financial support to small higher education institutions throughout the country to help keep the cost of education affordable for underserved populations. Proceeds from today's luncheon will benefit scholarships for low-income college students.

"As governor, I support the role UNCF plays in helping young people achieve their goal of a higher education," Gov. Perry said. "It is my mission to ensure that we devote our efforts and resources to carrying out proposed education reforms during the upcoming legislative session. The four-year tuition freeze for incoming freshmen, linking a portion of each university's funding to student outcomes and expanding the number of universities offering degrees will motivate students to graduate on time and enter the workforce sooner by making Texas colleges more accessible, affordable and accountable for all Texans."
