The Business Gala International will be held on December 11, 2012, at the Dubai World Trade Centre on the sidelines of the GES-EVA, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

This year, Dubai Chamber's annual Dubai Business Gala has been renamed the "Business Gala International" to reflect the non-profit organisation's ongoing geographic expansion and its support of the UAE's bid to host the 2020 World Expo in Dubai.

Dubai is competing against four other candidate cities bidding to host this six-month international celebration of new ideas and global partnerships, including Ayutthaya (Thailand); Ekaterinburg (Russia); Izmir (Turkey); and Sao Paulo (Brazil).

Over the past three years, Dubai Business Gala has established itself as the largest networking event in Dubai, attracting more than 1,000 business leaders, including VIPs and heads of Dubai's business groups and councils.

This year, the Business Gala International will feature greater opportunities to network, with a broad range of international delegates participating in GES-EVA.

H.E. Hamad Buamim, Director General, Dubai Chamber, said: "The internationalisation of this year's Business Gala reflects Dubai Chamber's focus on expanding into new markets, and follows the recent opening of our first overseas representative office in Baku, Azerbaijan.

"The Business Gala International is the ideal platform to meet prominent leaders and representatives of Dubai's business community as well as key international delegates to discuss new business opportunities and strengthen existing working relationships," he said.

"It is also an excellent chance to meet representatives of Dubai Chamber's 26 business groups and 41 business councils, which play a central role in supporting Dubai's private-sector development," His Excellency said.

Helal Saeed Almarri, CEO of Dubai World Trade Centre, said: "GES-EVA underlines Dubai's competencies in hosting large-scale events, presenting to participants from around the world, the advantages offered by the city as an events and conference destination.

"Through the participation at GES-EVA, business representatives of Dubai Chamber's business groups and councils will also get a strong overview of the fast-growing dynamics of the Arab world's SME sector, highlighting the UAE's premier position as the region's business hub."

GES is a geographically rotating event being held for the first time in the region in Dubai, positioning the UAE as the nerve centre for entrepreneurship across the Middle East, Asia and Africa. EVA serves as a unique platform that brings a regional perspective for fostering a culture of entrepreneurship in the Pan Arab world. EVA is held in conjunction with Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

Held from December 11 to 12, GES-EVA offers key stakeholders a clear insight into the region's new business climate. Dedicated to the sustainable enhancement of regional small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and entrepreneurs, the event will enable the establishment of new businesses, in turn stimulating job creation and economic growth across the Arab world.
