Congress OK's new college loan legislation

There was accomplishment on both sides of the aisle in the nation?s capitol today, as congress passed new college loan legislation.

On the eve of their holiday recess, legislators okayed a law that?s designed to save nearly three million jobs and protect college students from a big increase in loan interest rates. In addition, legislation also revamped highway and transit programs, and shores up the federal flood insurance program.

The politicking saw republican removal of the keystone pipeline provision, while democrats relented on some environmental issues.

The law is now waiting for President Obama?s signature.?
